The Annual Maslenitsa Spring Festival

One of the most interesting and largest of the Huntsville Festivals is the Annual Maslenitsa Spring Festival.

It is held in the late winter months of either February or March in Madison County, and it is a celebration of two different things.

It celebrates the end of winter and the arrival of spring, and it celebrates 15 different East European cultures.

It is not very common that anyone living in the Deep South is exposed to some of the food and culture of East Europe, but this is your perfect opportunity to try them.

While the actual Maslenitsa celebration in the European countries is related to pagan holidays, it is nothing like this in this thriving Northern Alabama town

It is all about food, fun, and family.

You will be able to taste food from cultures originating from the Baltic States in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Russia, as well as southern Caucasus.

Most every year there will also be organizations that sponsor community representatives from Kazakh, Moldovan, the Ukraine, as well as the Georgian regions of Eastern Europe.

In addition to the wonderful food, there are also a lot of regional folk songs as well as instruments that are relative to these respective countries.

The Panoply Arts Festival

Next on the list is the Panoply Arts Festival, which is held during the last full weekend of April.

It began on May 14, 1982 and is presented by the Art Council of Huntsville.

It is actually held in two places.

It is held in the Big Spring International Park, as well Von Braun Center.

It includes performance such as demonstrations, competitions, presentations, as well as workshops you can attend.

Held the first week of June at the Lowe Mills Arts and Entertainment Center, it is the longest running Cigar Box Festival in the country.

It features live preformed music using traditional instruments that have used for hundreds of years.

It brings cigar box makers from all over the south, and it also includes workshops on how to make them, as well as demonstrations.

The Annual International Festival of North Alabama

Next on the list of the best of the Huntsville Festivals is the Annual International Festival of North Alabama.

It is held each fall in the month of September, on the campus of the University of Alabama at Huntsville.

There is something that makes this festival unique and attractive for families from all areas of life; it is free.

It has displays from several nations, as well as presentations and historic literature.

It offers children’s activities and audio-video presentations that are from the countries that are represented.

Every year it seems the display of countries gets bigger.

ContStellation

The final festival is held in October, and it is a science fiction convention that covers all general subjects.
